WHEN TO USE THE NASAL SELF-TEST?

This test can be used as part of a collective screening or by an individual at home. It allows you to know whether or not you are infected of the virus. By repeating the sample, for example 1 to 2 times / week, the chances of detecting the virus at the onset of the disease are increased.

  • “Mu” (B.1.621)
  • “Lambda” (C.37)
  • “Iota” (B1.526)
  • “Kappa” (B1.617.1)

HOW TO BE SURE THAT THE NASAL SAMPLE IS CORRECTLY PERFORMED?

For the sample to be taken correctly, the swab must be introduced vertically into each nostril over 2 to 3 cm without forcing. Then gently rock the swab horizontally and insert it a little until you meet slight resistance. Then perform a rotating movement inside each nostril 5 times or more for about 15 seconds..

Once the sample has been taken, the swab should be directly inserted into the extraction tube by rotating it in the solution 5 to 10 times while squeezing the tube. Remove the swab by squeezing the tube strongly to extract as much liquid as possible.

HOW TO USE THE BUFFER SOLUTION (BOTTLE OR SINGLE-DOSE)?

Depending on the kits, the user will find either a buffer solution or a single dose. Depending on the situation, the amount of buffer to be placed in the extraction tube differs:

  • Bottle: 15 drops must be poured
  • Single dose: the entire single dose must be poured out
THE TEST RESULT IS NEGATIVE BUT THE PATIENT HAS DOUBTS ABOUT THE RESULT. WHAT TO DO?

If contamination is suspected or symptoms appear, the patient should be advised to repeat the test in a few days or consult a doctor if symptoms worsen.

CAN I INTERPRET THE TEST RESULTS BEYOND 20 MINUTES?

No, the results should be read and interpreted after 15 minutes, but not after 20 minutes. After this period, the results must not be taken into account in order not to declare false positives.
